Here's what we know so far for Rhode Island.
BAN ANNOUNCED ON FLAVORED VAPING PRODUCTS
Governor Gina Raimondo issued an executive order banning the sale of flavored vaping products throughout the state of Rhode Island. She directed the state Department of Health to create regulations based on her order.
The ban does not apply to marijuana and unflavored tobacco products.
WHY WAS THE BAN ORDERED?
Governor Gina Raimondo said on Wednesday that flavored products are aimed at children and blamed them for "a public health crisis."
WHEN WILL THE BAN TAKE EFFECT?
The ban is expected to take effect once the State of Rhode Island Department of Health creates the regulations based on her order.
“State health director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott said the regulations could be put in place by early next week and would be effective for four months, with the option to extend them another two months.”
HOW LONG WILL THE BAN BE IN EFFECT?
The ban will be in effect for a period of 4 months, with the option to extend it for another two months.
WHAT DOES THE BAN MEAN TO RETAILERS?
Right now there is no way to know what the details of the ban will be. Based on the early indicators from the Governor, the ban will prevent the sale of flavored vaping products throughout the state.
It is unclear if the ban will include all flavored e-cigarette products or if exceptions will be made for tobacco or menthol flavors. If Gov. Raimondo ultimately bans some or all flavored e-cigarette and related flavored e-liquid products, consumers living in Rhode Island over the legal age of 21 will still have the option of purchasing unflavored nicotine and adding flavors or sweeteners as desired.

There is no way to know what products will ultimately be included in the ban until the State of Rhode Island Department of Health creates the regulations. Early language from the Governor identifies flavored vaping products.
There is no information available at this time. Once the actual regulations are created by the State of Rhode Island Department of Health, and the ban officially goes into effect, online sales of banned products into Rhode Island will likely be prohibited.
It is unclear how the ban will affect online sales of banned products out of Rhode Island to other states where there is no ban.
WHAT DOES THE BAN MEAN TO CONSUMERS?
Once the ban goes into effect consumers will no longer be able to purchase any banned flavored vaping products within the state of Rhode Island for a minimum of 4 months from the effective date.
